Confessions of a Special Occasions Hoarder

Do you ever look around your house/closet/garage and notice all the things you are saving for a special event? That one time when the occasion justifies the price, the fanciness or the sentiment of the item?  This is me.  I am a recovering special occasions hoarder and this is my confession.

It hit me one day as I was going through my closet.  I have dresses I bought and wore once for that one event, and never again.  I have fun, sparkly purses I have never used.  I have been gifted jewelry that’s still in the box waiting for the right time, right opportunity, right occasion.  I suddenly woke up one day with a different outlook and decided life is too short.

Life happens.  We too often get caught up in all the should do’s, the have-to do’s, the endless laundry of daily life.  Until one day, often out of the blue, we wake up and realize we aren’t guaranteed a tomorrow.  Life is a gift and the present moment is all we have.  One of my favorite quotes is “Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s call the present.” Bil Keane.

So what now?  I have decided I want to enjoy what I have more. Live life a little more and enjoy the moments. My best friends are all entrepreneurs and we don’t always get to spend as much time together as we would like. We make the most out of the time we are together and we truly cherish it; like a Sisterhood Bond.  We laugh, we cry, we discuss the ups and downs of life and we all make it through with love and support.

To bring it full circle, because I am an entrepreneur, it would be remiss to not discuss how Tipsy Totes fits in to all this! Self-promotion!  Tipsy Totes is a fun, glamorous product that encourages socializing. What do women do when they get together?  My favorite is drinking wine and discussing the good, the bad and they ugly with my closest friends (see above) which is why Sonja and I started Tipsy Totes.  My support team is women uplifting other women and Tipsy Totes is the glamorous carrier I take my wine in while we talk about changing the world (or at least the parts we touch).  It also lifts my spirits because of the fun nature, the quirky designs and of course because it does carry my wine, seriously, what more could you ask for?  I drink beer in the summer and the Beer Toteez make a statement –  I love the pop of color, sequins and fur.  These are every day items!  They should be enjoyed and taken everywhere! They enhance my life and make it all the more fun and enjoyable.  The Wine Toteez and Beer Toteez are just one more way to step out of the special occasion hoarding mentality and take those sometimes unappreciated, but precious moments and make them memorable.  So I’ll ask you this: Who do you want to be and how do you want to show up?
